I have no idea what the last serviceman was thinking

This heatpump wouldn’t heat. It was stuck in cool mode. The thermostat was set on R it should have been on O. It was heating in the summer and cooling in the winter. The previous serviceman didn’t find this. His solution was to send 24v to the reverse valve. This locked the unit in cooling mode. Now its winter and it turned into a block of ice because the air conditioner was on. I removed the extra voltage and turned the thermastat to O. It heats great now.
