| This is the insidr of a coil. You are looking at a 1/4 inch of dirt. I scrapped a clean spot on the bottom to help you see. The air can not pass threw this . The furnace gets to hot and the flame goes out. It cools down about d relites in a minute. This can do this 40 times a day. It shortens the life of the unit. A cheap screen filter caused this. The filter was cleaned regularly but there was never any dirt on it. It was to cheap to stop the dirt. A house with return air grills on the floor needs the filters change more often. Add kids and pets and that filter will get clogged fast. Keep a clean filter. This cost $175 to clean. It was 15 years old and rusty in places so it was replaced. It was $900. Do not use the $15 filters fron the hardware stores. Theyblock to much air. A 90 day filter is trouble too. The $1 filters don’t stop anything. Stay in the $3-$5 range. A furnace will turn off and on right away if it doesn’t get enough air flow. A bad blower or bad board can do this too.
